Afternoon Update:

Freezing rain/mist and drizzle continue to be an issue in our eastern counties.  Though the precipitation has ended in the Blue Grass, with temperatures still below freezing, watch out for slick spots and icy areas on the roadways.  We'll call for thick clouds to thin some...giving way to mostly cloudy skies later this evening.  Overnight low should dip down into the upper teens with wind chills in the upper single digits and low teens.

We have a big warm up in your 7-day forecast.  Meteorologist Mark Stitz will be in tonight at 5pm, 6pm & 11pm with more.

Areas of snow, sleet & freezing rain are in the forecast for today.

My main concern is for freezing rain between the Blue Grass Parkway and the Cumberland Parkway.  Don't expect a whole lot of accumulation; however, up to 1" of snow/sleet is expected in the Blue Grass with higher amount towards the elevated regions of eastern Kentucky.  The wintry mix should start up by late morning and into this afternoon.  This will be a quick moving system, which should be out of here by early evening.

Highs today should top out in the low 30s with overnight lows in the upper teens.

We're expecting near 60 degree heat by next week! Join me today at Noon on ABC 36 for more!
