On Monday morning the Kentucky State Police were notified by the Wayne County 911 Center of a shooting that had occurred on Highway 1275 North in Wayne County.

Troopers said Gavin A. Thompson, 38, of Monticello had been shot by Ian T. Miller, 21, of Elmira, NY during an altercation that had taken place at Thompson’s residence.

Thompson was transported to the Wayne County Hospital where he was pronounced deceased by the Wayne County Coroner’s Office.

Thompson’s body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy that will be performed.

KSP said no arrest have been made at this time and the investigation is continuing.
