A wanted man is behind bars after police chased him through yards and in-between houses, police say.

Police say, they originally tried to stop the SUV early Friday morning, on Price Street in Lexington, because the driver had arrest warrants for burglary, assault, stalking and what police call other serious crimes.

When police tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver did not stop, police officials say. The suspect then jumped out of the vehicle and led police on a foot chase between homes and through backyards. Police were able to catch him a few blocks later.

According to Lexington Police, once the suspect was in custody, he fell ill and an ambulance was called to the scene. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Police officials tell ABC 36, they believe the suspect may have swallowed a drug in an attempt to hide evidence.

Lexington Police requested K9 units to provide assistance. They say it was to see if the suspect had dropped any drugs or weapons during the chase. Police officials say they didn't find anything.

Damion Happy is facing additional charges of fleeing and evading police, as well as other traffic charges. He is scheduled to appear in court later today.
