Walmart Gives Check To KY National Guard Memorial

98 Walmart stores across Kentucky made a goal to raise $100,000 for the Kentucky National Guard Memorial, which will be located outside the Boone National Guard Center in Frankfort.

Walmart went above and beyond that goal.

Monday, they presented a check in the amount of $208,656.52.

Walmart's regional V.P., David Reitnauer, said this is his way of giving back to his country that has given so much.

"We have a responsibility and a duty to respect and honor those that have fallen, making the ultimate sacrifice for our state and our country," said Reitnauer.

Gov. Steve Beshear said the National Guard is coming to Kentucky's rescue.

"They perform so well that I got to where I would tell communities that needed them- look Superman is not available, so I'm sending you the KY National Guard because they always save the day," said Gov. Beshear.

The Kentucky National Guard Memorial fund has raised $1.3 million dollars.
