Walgreens Closing Drugstore In Lexington

Walgreens is closing a drugstore in Lexington while a new store is being built at the corner of Harrodsburg Road and Lane Allen, according to the company.

The company is closing its drugstore in Versailles Road on June 17, 2014.  The prescriptions will be transferred to the Rite Aid across the street.

An existing store on Harrodsburg Road will be closed once the new store at  Harrodsburg and Lane Allen is built.  The prescriptions will be transferred to the new location, according to the company.

The closings are part of the company's previously announced efforts to optimize its asset base by closing a total of 76 drugstores nationwide during the second half of fiscal 2014, according to the company.
