Family and friends held a vigil Saturday night for two Lancaster men who were struck and killed by lightning this week.

Scotty Elam, 25, and Bobby Lee Maggard, 29, were struck by lightning while hanging tobacco in a barn on the Garrard and Madison County line.

People in the community joined in lighting candles and praying together.

Family said the turnout was more than they expected and the support from the community is helping them heal.

The county coroner said six people total were working in the barn when it was struck. Three of them were injured; one was not hurt.
