Veterans Day Events Around Central Kentucky

Here is a look at some of the events happening around Central Kentucky in honor of Veterans Day:

- Governor Steve Beshear will participate in Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial 25th anniversary commemoration at 11 a.m. at the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial at 365 Vernon Cooper Drive in Frankfort.

- There will be a Veterans Day Ceremony at Camp Nelson National Cemetery at 11 a.m. located at 6980 Danville Road, Nicholasville. The ceremony will take place in front of the American flag pole.  Guest speaker will be Kimberly Bernard.

- Eastern Kentucky University will hold its annual Veterans' Day Recognition Service at 1:40 p.m. outside Powell Building. A memorial bench will be dedicated at 2:30 p.m. in adjacent Memorial Plaza in honor of Dr. Robert J. Topmiller and Robert Hundley Jr.

- The Lexington Legends will permanently reserve one seat at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in honor of military prisoners of war and those missing in action. The seat will no longer be sold or occupied for events at the ballpark. The seat will be unveiled during a Veterans Day ceremony at the ballpark at 10 a.m. The Legends' staff will welcome members of Rolling Thunder, an organization of motorcycle-riding veterans, as special guests.  The group will take one lap around the ballpark on motorcycles before coming to the seating area for the brief ceremony.
