Update: Wal-Mart Shooting Suspect Identified

ABC 36 News has confirmed the name of the man who was shot by a police officer Monday afternoon in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Stanford.

State Police said a Stanford Police Officer was fired on by Jackie Murphy, who they said had run out of the Wal-Mart after being stopped for suspected shoplifting.

State Police said Murphy started shooting at the Officer, who returned fire, wounding Murphy.

Murphy is currently in U.K. Hospital.

State Police said no one else was injured in the exchange of gunfire.
