Update: Triangle Fountain Pretty In Pink

Update: Triangle Fountain Pretty In Pink

The fountain in Triangle Park in downtown Lexington has color-corrected water flowing through it. It is now, pretty in pink.
The water flowing in the fountain in Triangle Park in downtown Lexington is finally the correct color.

On Wednesday, dye was added to announce the showing of the movie, "Pretty in Pink," the first in the new Fountain Films on Friday series presented by Hilliard Lyons.

The problem was, too much dye was used and it turned the water bright red instead of pink.

On Friday, the fountain was drained, the correct amount of dye was added and by the afternoon, the water was the desired pink color.

The pink water is not only promoting the movie and series, but also bringing awareness to the fight against breast cancer.

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Lexington sponsored the movie's showing Friday evening.

Outdoor movies will be shown in Triangle Park on selected Fridays throughout the summer.

People are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the free movie.  There will also be music and lawn games prior to the start of the movies.  Food and beverages will be sold.

All the movies begin at dark.

They're produced by New Heights, www.newheights.biz and coordinated by Downtown Lexington Corporation, www.downtownlex.com
