Update: Severe Weather Hits Lexington Hard

Authorities believe strong winds may have been the cause of a roof on a gas station collapsing.
Severe weather hit Lexington hard Monday evening.

Reports of downed power lines, flooded roads and even a collapsed roof were all reported across town.

Some of the worst damage was done on the east side of town along Loudon Avenue.

The roof of a gas station collapsed with two employees inside on the corner of Loudon and Contract.

Fire officials say they believe the cause of the collapsed may be related to the weather on that side of town.

Neighbors along Loudon say it was like a monsoon hit the town with strong winds and pea size hail belting the area.

By late Monday evening most of the power was restored to Lexington except for a handful of homes and a couple of traffic lights along Broadway.
