The City of Lexington said the northbound lane of Woodland Avenue toward Euclid Avenue was expected to reopen Friday afternoon.

Woodland Avenue was closed between Hilltop Avenue and Columbia Avenue this week because that section of road was in jeopardy of collapsing.

The city said the threat was the result of recent excavation work and heavy rains.

A contractor was shoring-up a trench to prevent a collapse.

A detour has been in place.
