Update: Nicholasville Police Arrest Purse Snatching Suspect

Nicholasville Police said Sunday that James "Colton" Mahan could be tied to three recent purse snatchings.
Police in Nicholasville hope they have the man they said could be responsible for three recent purse snatchings.

Investigators accused James "Colton" Mahan, 22, of grabbing a woman's purse from her shoulder in a Kroger parking lot on Sunday.

Police were nearby and said they found Mahan hiding in a backyard shed.

Mahan was charged with Robbery 2nd Degree, Fleeing and Evading, Burglary 3rd Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Investigators said Sunday's grocery store parking lot theft was the third purse snatching in the last four days in Nicholasville.

Police said they think Mahan may have committed all three crimes.

Police said in a purse snatching last Thursday, May 17, at a Walmart, an 84-year old woman was pushed to the ground during the crime and suffered a broken hip.

The investigation into all three purse snatchings continues.
