New information from the Lexington Police Department's Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) confirms that a 15-year old girl who was hit by a car Friday evening was on a bike at the time of the collision.

Investigators said the girl crossed against the light within the cross walk on the south side of Man O' War Boulevard at Boston Road.

Investigators said the driver of the car was on the inner loop of Man O' War approaching Boston Road in the left lane.

Police said the driver told investigators that there were cars in the left turn lane waiting to turn left onto Boston Road when the girl crossed in front of her in the cross walk.

The driver told investigators that she had the green light and that she swerved to avoid the collision but was unable and struck the girl.

Police said the accident happened around 6:30 p.m.

The teenager was rushed to U.K. Hospital with what police described as life-threatening injuries.

Her name is not being released because she's a minor.

No one in the car was injured.

Police said the driver was not cited.

The investigation continues.
