Update: Names Released After Trooper Shoots Suspect

State police say a trooper shot and killed a man in Franklin County Friday night. Now, the names have been released.

Troopers say they responded to a domestic disturbance on Galbraith Road. They found a woman hurt in the driveway. Troopers say she was treated, and they went into the home to serve warrants on a man. According to troopers, that man pointed a handgun at them, and was then shot. He died later at a Frankfort hospital.

State police say the suspect was 38-year-old Paul Demaree, and that Trooper John B. Hawkins shot him. Hawkins has been a trooper almost eight years.

Hawkins, two other troopers, and a sergeant are all on admininstrative leave while this is investigated.
