The man charged with murder in the shooting death of Derek Pelphrey, 23, is also accused of a robbery that occurred nearly two weeks ago in Lexington.

According to the police citation, Trustin Jones, 20, was arrested Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of Tates Creek and Lansdowne.

He is charged with murder and tampering with evidence in connection to Pelphrey’s death.

Police said Pelphrey was shot in the neck Tuesday night while sitting in his car on Ridgepoint Run, near Spangler Drive.

Pelphrey was found lying in the street next to his car. He was taken to the hospital but later died.

Court documents said Jones killed Pelphrey then got rid of the gun.

Jones is also charged with robbery in connection to an unrelated incident on Zandale Drive on August 23.

Police said a witness identified Jones as one of two men who entered a home, showed a gun and took around $900.

The other suspect, Austin Pennie, 20, was arrested last week.

During that robbery, police said the victim fought back and the gun discharged twice in the home.

Jones is scheduled to be arraigned in court Thursday for the robbery and murder charges.

Police also arrested Robery Guernsey, 32, and charged him with complicity to murder in connection to Pelphrey’s death.

Court documents said Guernsey was an “acquaintance” of Pelphrey’s.

Guernsey is accused of participating in such a manner that “directly led” to Pelphrey’s death, according to court documents.

He is also scheduled to be arraigned in court Thursday.
