Morehead State has suspended Men's Head Basketball Coach Sean Woods for one game after he appeared to shove one of his players during Wednesday's loss at Kentucky.

Woods will sit out Monday's game against Norfolk State.

The former Kentucky star guard, whose jersey hangs from the rafters of Rupp Arena as one of the program's beloved 'Unforgetables,' appeared to shove Eagles point guard Devon Atkinson in the back after the senior fouled out with 5:51 remaining against the Wildcats.

Morehead State Athletic Director Brian Hutchinson suspended Woods Friday after meeting with the coach.

Hutchinson said in a statement released by the university that, "This will allow Coach Woods to consider his action and behavior, and allow him time to contemplate the appropriate way to conduct himself with his players and on the sideline."

Woods apologized for his behavior in a statement and said the situation "will not happen again."

This capped off a bad public relations week for the Eagles first year head coach.

Earlier in the week, Woods publicly apologized for criticizing how the current Kentucky Wildcat players conducted themselves during a recent joint appearance to raise money for Hurricane Sandy victims.

It's a good thing there were no rules against shouting and screaming when Bob Knight was coaching - otherwise he would never have "won" all those games. He would have been forced to rely on just throwing chairs and choking the players and the occasional undergraduate he has never met before. Of course, if he plays his cards right and says enough incorrect things about the Wildcats, Sean might be able to get a job broadcasting Kentucky games like Bob has. It's been done before.
