Contractors and highway crews will cease most road construction work during the Memorial Day weekend, but traffic impacts will remain in several northeast Kentucky counties.

Motorists traveling on Interstate 64 should watch for the following work zones:

-      IIn Bath County, I-64 will be one lane from mile markers 117 to 121 near Owingsville. Barrels will be pulled back to give motorists plenty of lane width, and work will cease from noon Friday through Monday. Contractors will begin work again Tuesday morning.

-        In Rowan County, I-64 will be one lane from mile markers 134 to 138 near Morehead. Again, barrels will be pulled back, and work will resume Tuesday.

Elsewhere, motorists can expect possible work zone restrictions including:

-        In Fleming County, construction of the new Flemingsburg Bypass extension has created a three-way stop at the existing KY 11 intersection just north of downtown. Traffic should watch for narrow lanes.

-        In Greenup County, a project to improve KY 750 at Raceland has created lane shifts on US 23 near the work site. And travel along KY 750 could be on rough surfaces. (A temporary closure of KY 750 will be lifted over the holiday weekend.)

-        At Ashland in Boyd County, no work will take place on the resurfacing of KY 168 (Blackburn Avenue), but travel could be on rough surfaces in some locations.
