Lexington police say U.S. Marshals caught the man suspected to be connected to an overnight murder Wednesday.

Police say they were called to a home on Scottsdale Circle around 4 a.m.

Inside, officers say they found Quantina Reed, 34, dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

The Fayette County Coroner later released that the gunshot was the cause of death.

Police began a search for Jeffrey Jackson, 34, and issued a murder warrant for his arrest.

Officers say Jackson was picked up in Dayton, Ohio by U.S. Marshals around 11 a.m. He was charged with murder.

Lexington police detectives said they were going to Dayton to get Jackson and bring him back to the city.

Family members of Reed said she had been dating Jackson for the past three months.

Police say Reed's two children were inside the home when the murder happened. Family members say the kids are a boy, 8, and a girl, 14.

Jesse Mitchell, Reed's father, said he found out about his daughter's death from the news.

"I was in the bedroom when my wife hollered at me, and I went in there and she said, 'That's Quanita's house on tv!'," he told ABC-36 News.

Mitchell said he'd seen Jackson the night before.

Family members said Reed worked for Central Baptist Hospital for the past twelve years as a housekeeper.

As of this writing, there are no funeral arrangements announced.
