The lawyer for a veteran Lexington Police officer, who is accused of receiving sexual favors from a woman, entered a not guilty plea to official misconduct charges on behalf of his client Monday in Fayette District Court.

Sergeant Robert Brown is criminally charged with one count of 1st Degree Official Misconduct and two counts of 2nd Degree Official Misconduct, according to court records.

Sgt. Brown is accused of failing to file charges against a woman who had drug paraphernalia in her purse, then taking her to a remote area in Fayette County for sexual favors last December 9th, according to court documents.

On that same December date, Sgt. Brown is accused of charging a man with driving on a suspended license, even though he didn't witness the violation and failing to charge the man after finding pills in his pocket, according to court documents.

Sgt. Brown has been with the Lexington Police Department for ten years.

He was suspended without pay on July 12, 2012.

Sgt. Brown is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on August 28th.
