Update: Lex. Fire Dept. Investigating Latest House Fire

There have been three house fires within a five-block radius in the past seven days on Lexington's East Side.
In the last seven days there have been three house fires in Lexington, all abandoned and all within a five-block radius of each other.

Last Thursday crews were called to a house fire on Second Street.

That fire would later be ruled arson and an arrest made.

Then early Tuesday morning crews responded to an abandoned duplex fire. That case would also be ruled as arson but no arrest in that case yet.

Wednesday's fire was similar.

It was an empty house, in the same area that happened overnight.

Investigators are looking into whether homeless people may have been "squatting" in some of these places.

Some of these fires have been dangerous and disruptive.

A firefighter was hurt battling last Thursday's fire.

A mother and her three children were forced to find another place to live temporarily after Tuesday's fire.
