Lexington fire fighters had a long night Tuesday.
Crews battled a fire off Swigert Ave. a little after midnight.
They would remain on the scene for 12 hours fighting not only the fire but the cold as well.
Fire officials say they had to rotate tanker trucks and hoses because the water inside kept freezing.
They say they would dump half of their tanks before the water would start to freeze. Crews would have to go back to stations to let the trucks and hoses thaw.
Officials say one fire fighter was injured after slipping on the ice.
There was one person and a dog in the house at the time of the fire, but officials say both managed to get out unharmed.
