Police have cancelled a Golden Alert for a Lexington man who they say was found safe.

Investigators say 81-year-old Carl Wheeler Shye was found just before 5pm Thursday in Wilmore.

Family members tell ABC 36 he had crashed his car into a tree but was okay.

Shye has a variety of medical issues, including dementia and heart problems.

His wife says he was supposed to pick her up at a beauty parlor close to their home around noon but never showed up.
