Update: Flooded EKU Building to Reopen Monday

Officials at Eastern Kentucky University have reported the Moore Science Building is closed until Monday due to flooding.
Officials at Eastern Kentucky University have announced the Moore Science Building is closed until Monday morning at 7 due to flooding.

Students who normally have classes in the building are advised to check their BlackBoard and EKU email accounts for any updates from their professors and the University.

Faculty members are being allowed access to the Moore Building to check their offices and labs, but officials said they should enter through the front lobby to keep heat loss to a minimum.

The flooding happened after an air compressor reportedly malfunctioned, which impacted the building's heating system, causing the first three floors of the building to be covered in water.

The building's electricity has been shut off as a safety precaution, according to school officials.

Restrooms are also said to be out of order, as they could have antifreeze in them to prevent freezing and other damage.

The University expects classes to resume as normal on Monday.
