Update: Fire Officials Want More Community Involvement in Prevention

Fire officials get together with community groups to brainstorm ways to prevent fires.
Fire officials from across the state came together in Frankfort on Tuesday along with different community groups for a round table discussion on how to raise awareness about fire prevention.

The group came up with a number of ideas including going door to door in rural and low income communities to pass out and check on smoke detector, more marketing campaigns and better education about fire prevention in schools.

So far in 2013, 30 Kentuckians have died in accidental house fires.

Ten of the victims were children.

Since October of 2012 the National Fire Protection Association ranked Kentucky 7th in the National fire related deaths.
