A Fayette County Detention Center inmate escaped from officers this afternoon.
In a press release, jail officials say Mustafa Qasem, 21, got away from a Fayette County Detention Center transport vehicle around 1:00 pm Wednesday.
Community Corrections Officers from the Community Alternative Program said Qasem was in violation of his home incarceration conditions.
Officers put him in custody and were transporting him to the Detention Center, when he escaped from their vehicle near the Old Frankfort – New Circle Road intersection.
Oasem was on home incarceration waiting for trial. He faces charges of trafficking in a controlled substance, tampering with a security device and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jail officials say Oasem is six feet tall, 165 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes.
