Update: Donations Needed For Temporary Knox-Whitley County Animal Shelter

A temporary animal shelter is being set-up following Friday's fire that destroyed the existing facility. We have a list of supplies that are desperately needed for the surviving animals.
A temporary Knox-Whitley County Animal Shelter is being set-up following a fire on Friday that destroyed the existing facility.

Twenty-one dogs survived the fire, one dog and 34 cats perished.  One dog is unaccounted for and presumed dead, according to shelter officials.

About a dozen dogs were taken in by the Lexington Humane Society.  Those dogs are not yet ready for adoption, according to LHS officials.

In the meantime, Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter officials are asking for immediate donations of the following:
  • Metal food and water bowls
  • Blankets
  • Towels
  • Water
  • Big water buckets
  • Cat pans to be used for litter boxes
  • Litter scoops
  • Cat containment crates
  • Garbage cans
  • Large garbage bags
  • Dog and Cat food
