The investigation continues this morning after the Magoffin County Deputy Jailer is shot to death, allegedly by his stepson.

The sheriff’s office confirms that 45-year-old Albert Bloomfield was killed Sunday afternoon.

It happened around 3:30 at Bloomfield’s home in Salyersville.

We’re told he had been shot several times and was dead when emergency crews arrived.

Deputies arrested 31-year-old Jonathan Watkins, Bloomfield’s stepson.

Officials say Watkins surrendered at the scene.

He is currently behind bars at the Big Sandy Regional Jail, charged with murder of a police officer.

Officials have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.

An autopsy is scheduled for Bloomfield on Monday.
