Update: Couple Admits To Theft In Laurel County House Fire Scam

A couple pled guilty Friday to taking money from charities in a house fire scam.

53-year-old Robert Maxie and 26-year-old Brittany McDonald claimed they lived in a house that was damaged by a fire.

They took up donations from the community and local non-profit groups.

Police say there was an actual house in East Bernstadt that was damaged in an arson.

But it was vacant when it happened.
