Update: Casey County Victim's Son Says It Was Murder

Kentucky State Police say the body of Wendell Pyles, 50, was found in Casey County Wednesday night.
Kentucky State Police say the body of a Columbia man was found in the parking lot of the Tarter Gate Company around 10PM Wednesday.

The victim--Wendell Pyles, 50--was a night shift maintenance supervisor, according to family.

His son, Teddy, said Pyles had only been with the company a few months when he was killed.

He says his father was shot three times--once in the back and twice in the head, though state police haven't confirmed that.

Teddy Pyles added that his father didn't look like the sort of guy you'd mess with.. Saying his father had spent quite a few years in jail.

"He was tattooed out on both arms...just muscular and just big as can be with an attitude to back it up. But he was just a big teddy bear," said Pyles.

The son says his family plans to make funeral arrangements Friday morning.

Authorities haven't yet released any other details about the incident.

However, anyone with information about suspicious activity near the tarter gate company last night is asked to call state police at 1-800-222-5555. Callers can remain anonymous.
