Rod Strickland was driving on UK’s camp today when police say he was pulled over for failure to signal.
Strickland works as a special assistant to UK Basketball Coach John Calipari.
According to a citation report, Strickland also had an expired license plate and a suspended driver’s license.
The suspension came from a DUI arrest in 2010.
But Kentucky court documents state Strickland’s license was reinstated in April of 2011.
So why was he charged with a suspended license?
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports Strickland does have a suspended license, but not it’s not from Kentucky. It’s from Tennessee for a DUI suspension in 2007.
He still has the suspension there because the newspaper reports he never paid the $190 fee.
Reports say the suspension in Tennessee also applies to driving in Kentucky because of an agreement between the two states to honor each other’s suspensions.
Strickland was brought to the Fayette County Detention Center, but was released on bond around 11 a.m.
