Heat Advisories are in effect across central and northeastern parts of the area, as well as in the Lake Cumberland area.  Much of interior eastern Kentucky is also under the Heat Advisory for the next few afternoons.

An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for Owen, Grant, Pendleton, Henry, Shelby, Spencer and Nelson Counties.

It's a scorching July 4th with stifling heat and increasing humidity.  Temperatures are already in the 90s in most places, and we'll peak near 98° late this afternoon, with a heat index near 100° during the hottest part of the day.  Isolated thunderstorms will be possible at any point, although they'll be most likely in the late afternoon and early evening.  Many areas will remain dry, missing these stray t-storms.  The same general weather pattern will continue through Saturday with highs in the middle to upper 90s, heat indices near 100°-105°, and isolated thunderstorms.  Thunderstorm chances will increase on Sunday and Monday as a cold front arrives.  By Tuesday, highs will be in the middle 80s with only a few leftover showers and thunderstorms in southern Kentucky.
