The United Way of the Bluegrass said they will pull all funding to The Bluegrass Council Boy Scouts of America Programs.
In a letter to supporters, the United Way said they will no longer fund the Boy Scouts program because of its policy not to allow homosexuals to serve as adult leaders. They said this goes against their non-discrimination policy.
“Unfortunately, the policy of Boy Scouts of America specifically denies the participation of some adults in troop leadership roles based on their sexual orientation,” the letter stated.
The Bluegrass Council serves more than 10,000 children in central and eastern Kentucky. They said they are deeply disappointed by this decision, which has played a critical role in their program for local young people for decades.
