A toddler that State Police said was hit by a car in Barbourville died Tuesday morning at UK Hospital in Lexington.

Troopers said that a driver was letting two children cross Maggie Cane Road Monday afternoon.

According to State Police, the driver did not see the third child as he went to pull out.

There was an initial report that the toddler had died Monday from her injuries.

But troopers said that it was an error, and that investigators had been misinformed by the Knox County Hospital.

It was not yet known if the driver would face charges.
