UPDATE: Suspect in Custody Following Owsley County Shooting/Stabbing

State Police said Joshua Hensley, 28, of Booneville, assaulted his wife with a knife and shot a man in the back who tried to intervene Thursday afternoon in Owsley County.
State Police said a domestic assault in Owsley County sent two people to the hospital and landed one man in jail Thursday afternoon.

Investigators said Joshua Hensley, 28, of Booneville, assaulted his wife, Andrea Hensley, with a knife in a relative's trailer where she was staying on KY 708 around 3:00 p.m.

State Police said Jason Reed of Booneville tried to intervene and was reportedly shot in the back by Joshua Hensley.

Reed was taken to UK Hospital to undergo surgery for a gunshot wound.  He made it out of surgery and is in stable condition, according to officials at the hospital.

State Police said Andrea Hensley suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated at Kentucky River Medical Center.

Investigators said Joshua Hensley was arrested and charged with two counts of assault, four counts of wanton endangerment and criminal trespassing.

He was lodged in the Three Forks Regional Jail.

A jail official said Hensley will likely have an appearance in court next week, as Owsley County does not have court Friday.

The case remained under investigation.
