UPDATE: Fayette Mall Gas Leak Being Capped

Fire officials have confirmed that the Fayette Mall is not being evacuated due to a leak at the construction site, although neighboring PNC Bank and Olive Garden were for safety measures.
Fire officials have confirmed that the Fayette Mall is not being evacuated due to a leak at the construction site, although neighboring PNC Bank and Olive Garden asked people to leave for safety measures.

Crews said although no one is allowed to go in the mall's front entrance, other entrances are being opened.

Readings are consistently being taken inside the building, but current readings for gas are at zero.

Columbia Gas is at the mall to try to cap the construction site leak.

Traffic on Nicholasville Road is backed up due to the leak's location.

Officials are not sure yet when everything will be back to normal.

Although there may be concerns of the odor of gas, fire crews said the odor is just a warning and that everything is safe.
