DanceBlue kicks off Saturday at Memorial Coliseum. Hundreds of UK students will be dancing for 24 hours straight to raise money for pediatric cancer research.
Organizers said there are 62 teams that will be participating in the dance marathon this year, which comes out to about 900 students.
It’s an annual fundraiser that they said has grown bigger every year. Last year, they raised more than $1 million.
The money they collect this year will go to the Golden Matrix Fund. It supports cancer research at the Markey Cancer Center and social support at the DanceBlue KCH Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic.
During the fundraiser, the students won’t be allowed to sit or sleep.
Organizers said there will be special appearances by UK groups, coaches and alumni throughout the weekend.
