The University of Kentucky's President is apologizing for how UK handled the announcement of some recent layoffs.

UK will not refill 160 vacant positions and will lay off about 140 more employees.'

It's all in an effort to close a $43 million deficit.

President Eli Capilouto said in a letter that UK did do a good enough job communicating the changes and how they would affect the faculty.

Capilouto says UK could have been clearer about the timing.
