A University of Kentucky professor was arrested after police said they found child pornography on his computer at work.

Neil Williams, 59, was charged with possessing matter portraying minors in a sexual performance.

According to court documents, University of Kentucky police were called to investigate reports of pictures that were found on a desktop computer on UK’s Coldstream Research Campus just before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

When police arrived, they observed a snapshot of the computer’s screen and desktop that portrayed minors having sex, documents said.

Police said they also saw an external hard drive connected to the computer, which appeared to have the images stored on it.

The police report didn't specify if the computer was owned by the university or how police obtained the snapshot of the screen.

The computer and the hard drive were seized and investigators plan to get a search warrant to scan the hard drive for more evidence, according to the report.

In addition to being a professor, Williams also serves as the associate director of UK’s Veterinary Diagnostic Lab.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
