Another first for UK Hospital. It's a hybrid operating room.
It's called a hybrid because it has both 'imaging' technology and surgery capabilities. So what does that mean for patients? One doctor told us that in the past, after brain surgery, bringing in an x-ray machine would take time. Now, it's already there.
"In a room like this, that hour-long time is reduced to about five minutes," Dr. Justin Fraser told ABC 36. "And so it really, it takes a case that used to take hours and hours, and reduces that time, which we've found over the years, reduces operating time, it helps patients get better faster."
It's the first operating room of its kind in the region and one of the biggest ones in the United States.
