A University of Kentucky police officer has been fired after a student posted a video to YouTube of officers entering his room.

UK Police Chief Joe Monroe said Cpl. David Thompson had inappropriate contact with the student in the video. The student initially posted the video after he said the officers violated his rights after they entered his dorm room without a search warrant. Campus police said they saw alcohol being poured out of the student's video and went to inspect the room to see if there was any more alcohol.

Chief Monroe said Thompson has been on the department since 2006, and he hasn't had any behavior like this in the past.

From what I've read, this cop was considered a veteran. He had served for several years, which is more than most, considering the huge turn over rate they have. Considering how the man is treated for entering on probable cause (guaranteed...no court can or will convict him), it probably IS time for him to move to greener pastures. The kid's neighbors are pretty furious because the student got away with breaking campus rules...again. This will set a dangerous precedent. Students who push the limits will push even farther after this fiasco.

Fired...but, will he pop up somewhere else? How many cops are terminated for criminal conduct and then we have them reappear doing worse at another department. Great technique to please the public and police union. Cops violate USA Constitution daily during civil rights violating car stops, pat down searches and now even home invasions after K9 supposedly alerted. All cops should have a 4 year degree at a minimum. Waaay too much responsibility for someone with only a GED.
