UK HealthCare Restricts Visits As Flu Spreads

As the number of cases of flu increase, UK HealthCare has amended its inpatient visitation policy.
UK Healthcare has temporarily changed its inpatient visitation policy to help reduce the spread of the flu virus. Visitors under the age of 18 will not be allowed along with anyone showing flu-like symptoms. A limit of 2 people will be allowed inside a patient room at one time. These rules will apply immediately at UK Chandler Hospital, Kentucky Children's Hospital, and UK Good Samaritan Hospital. Additional restrictions may be in place in special care units such as critical care.

UK Healthcare's Interim Director for Infection Prevention and Control, Kim Blanton, said "We are monitoring this daily. We will watch it throughout the influenza season. If we see that we can remove the amended visitation, we will."

Exceptions to the visitation policy will be made on a case-by-case basis.
