LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A University of Kentucky researcher has found some promising results from watermelon juice but says more study is necessary before he recommends it.
The results of the UK study show watermelon juice may help keep weight down and the heart strong. Project investigator Sibu Saha says people still should continue to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, not just watermelon, the Lexington Herald Leader reports.
The research showed that lab mice with diet-induced high cholesterol fed watermelon juice versus those fed with water showed a decrease in fat mass, plaque formation and cholesterol level.
