Police said a husband and wife, on separate motorcycles, were injured Monday afternoon when they collided with a drive shaft that had fallen off of a utility truck that was traveling in front of them along Interstate 75 near the Scott-Grant County line.

The motorcyclist's names weren't released.

Police said the couple was taken to UK Hospital in Lexington with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators said the driver of the utility truck was not injured.

The accident remained under investigation.

The accident caused a temporary traffic backup along that stretch of I-75.
