Troops Emotional Homecoming

Kentucky National Guard troops return home from Iraq.
Since 9/11, nearly 14,000 Kentucky National Guard Soldiers and Airmen have helped with the Global War on Terror, about 5,000 of those have served in Iraq.

It was an emotional homecoming Friday for more than 100 of those troops who were serving in Iraq.  The unit was apart of the 149th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade's Task Force which deployed more than 1,300 troops to Iraq last June.  It was the largest deployment of the Kentucky National Guard since World War Two.  The task force helped with the troop withdrawal, conducted base defense and convoy security operations.

More than 45 troops were greeted with hugs and kisses from family and friends at Beacon Hill Baptist Church in Somerset Friday afternoon.

Over in Middlesboro, more than 35 troops were also welcomed home at the Bingham Town Church.

It has not yet been announced when the remaining troops with that task force will return home to Kentucky.
