Trooper Shoots and Kills Fleming County Man

On August 15, 2013, at approximately 2 a.m., Fleming County Dispatch received a call of a domestic dispute at 6090 Watson Road in Fleming County.  Kentucky State Police Troopers responded to the scene with Fleming County Sheriff’s Department.

Upon the officers’ arrival they were confronted by Thomas McClanahan, 46, who was armed with a handgun. 

After a short confrontation Mr. McClanahan pointed his pistol at one of the officers at which time officers fired their weapons.  Mr. McClanahan was transported to Fleming County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

This incident remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
