The roads were clear this morning.  Snow and ice did not cause too many problems, rather it was the wind doing the most damage.

A tree crushed a car on Harry Street, and it also nearly squashed the owner.

"I'm happy that I got my life, because like I said me and my twin brother we was in the car probably 10 minutes before it happened," said Jawaun "Juice" Thomas.

Around midnight, Thomas went inside as winds gusted at estimated speeds of nearly 50 miles an hour.

"it started getting real windy, windy.  I shut the door.  I finally threw on my night clothes, and next thing you know, I just heard that loud whoom!  It was the loudest sound I ever heard.  It kind of shook the house, and you could feel it," said Thomas.

He ran outside, and saw a neighbor already standing there.

"She was like your car, it hit your car!  Soon as I heard that I knew it was a wrap.  All my money down the drain, basically the whole backside, it's a wrap for that.  You can only get in the front, and it's like tilted up," said Thomas.

He says he recently spent thousands of dollars on the car, and believes it's totaled.

This morning, a road crew cleaned the branches off the sidewalk and street.  Thomas could have told you this would happen.

"We been telling these people cut down these trees.  They're too big and they're old.  It's dangerous.  What if it could have fallen on my house?  It could have fallen anywhere," said Thomas.

To make things worse, the tree fell on private property, so the owner will be responsible for cleaning up the mess.
