A family on Carver Road got an unpleasant surprise as a tree came crashing down on their home Sunday afternoon.

The family said they were in bed when the tree fell on their home causing a lot of damage. The granddaughter at the home said electricity had to be turned off because the tree also hit a power line.

No one was hurt, but family members said the experience was jarring. Lexington fire crews responded to the scene when family members reported a smell of smoke. The house did not catch fire though.
