Take extra caution while traveling during this holiday weekend, because the Kentucky State Police is out in full force.
According to State Police, in 2013, there were five crashes during the 4th of July holiday, which resulted in six fatalities.
Three of the crashes involved the use of alcohol, and one of the victims was not wearing a seat belt.
Law Enforcement said most accidents can be avoided if drivers do three things: wear seat belts, don't speed, and no drinking and driving.
It sounds simple, but during this busy travel time, it's easy to get distracted.
