Transportation Survey Results Released

More than 16,000 people participated in the survey with responses being received from every county in Kentucky.
The results from a transportation survey sponsored by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) to help develop its Long Range Transportation Plan have been released.

More than 16,000 people participated in the survey with responses being received from every county in Kentucky. This was the first campaign of its kind for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet that achieved such widespread participation.

The results show an overwhelming number of participants would like the state to focus on maintaining and improving the existing highway system, with a focus on bridges and roadway surface, but also indicate a desire for development of multimodal options for their trips where possible.

Participants also expressed a strong desire that these projects improve the safety of the system and additionally support economic development, be cost effective considering the benefits, and provide congestion relief.

The “Your Turn” survey was the first public involvement activity in conjunction with the update to the Kentucky Long Range Transportation Plan. The updated plan, with a horizon year of 2035, will be an overarching policy guide with goals, objectives and strategies to address the core transportation opportunities and challenges facing each of us.
