Two experienced organizations collaborated for the good of the community. The Salvation Army and the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots together have over 200 years of history of serving the needs of children.
The Salvation Army handled the registration and distribution process for both organizations. The Marine Corps operated its Toys for Tots Campaign as in previous years. The Salvation Army conducted its Angel Tree Program and the Food Angel Program. The community gave generously and as a result 5,659 children in Lexington will have new gifts under the tree on Christmas morning and 2,247 Lexington families will enjoy a hearty meal.
The Salvation Army Central Kentucky Area Services provides assistance in Fayette, Jessamine and Scott Counties. The Army expects to serve over 6,500 children and over 3,000 families this Christmas in these three counties.
